  • Flickring. Almost caught up to the end of January. Can I just say… Flickr Uploadr 3 is great. Almost perfect. #
  • Printing out passport application forms for my three-year-old and my ten-month-old, who as it happens are dangerous terrorists. #
  • Mostly offline today as VITA copies my settings and files over to soon-to-be-my new laptop! #
  • They brought a new monitor by. 19" HP LCD. It's very bright :) #
  • Furiously backing up everything in case their automated tool misses something. Which it inevitably will. #
  • @charliepark Awww, thanks. I feel all warm and fuzzy, seriously. Means a lot coming from you. #
  • OK, Twitter experiment. I need to follow more people. Everybody give me one person to follow. I'll do it, no questions asked. Choose wisely. #
  • I will not be getting the new laptop today. Apparently I have so many applications that I broke their system. #
  • Okay, thanks guys! Now following @superamit for @charliepark and @waynesutton for @molaro. Keep the suggestions coming! #
  • I love a new version of Ubuntu and all of the daily package upgrades it brings. Yes, I honestly really enjoy running sudo apt-get upgrade. #
  • Okay, still need followee recommendations, people. Don't make me come over there. #

  • Bath administered, Dr. Dolittle read, vitamins given, teeth brushed, pajamas donned, goodnight kissed. I love being a dad. #
  • Just seen in my Gutsy -> Hardy upgrade terminal: "Removing liboobs-1.3…" Hehe. #
  • Apparently the Hardy upgrade is now complete. Time to restart! #
  • …and we're back, running on Hardy. Hooray! #
  • I heart Hardy Heron. Ubuntu FTW. #
  • VITA is here, handing out the new laptops. Sadly, I am not among the first to receive one. Tomorrow, perhaps. #
  • They are HP 64bit dual-core jobbies with 2GB of RAM. Not too bad for gubmint issue. #
  • Incidentally, everything is HP now. DEQ gets hardware from VITA, which is run by Northrop Grumman, which has a deal with HP, I guess. #
  • Interesting side note: Northrop Grumman owns every PC and server used in the Virginia state government. #
  • If the state ever ends the contract, they either pull all the machines, or sell them back to us for more money than the state can pay. #
  • So: Northrop Grumman's contract will never ever be pulled. You can see why they are in this business. #
  • Hacking on PearBudget a bit. #
  • Triumphant after attacking my lawn with a gasoline-powered ruminant. #
  • I'm a world-record-holding baby-wrangler. Just sayin'. #

  • @cdrane Thanks for following. How's your crime project coming? #
  • Here's what I need: a list of followee's tweets since my last tweet, to catch up. Does this exist, or do I need (get) to go write it myself? #
  • Been neglecting Facebook a bit. Need to get in there and be social. #
  • Grr, it looks impossible/very hard to get all friends' tweets since my last tweet. API returns only 20 results, and paging is disabled. #
  • Basically, you get what's on the front page anyway. #
  • One possibility: compile a list of all friends, 100 at a time, then get their statuses since the last tweet, then sort them all together. #
  • That's easily dozens of API calls though. #
  • Ironic that paging the main feed is apparently disabled for performance reasons, but would be far fewer calls than the other method. #
  • Trying to catch up with my Flickring, one-handed due to carrying a squirmy infant. #
  • Wow, Hans Reiser was found guilty of 1st degree murder and faces 25 to life. http://tinyurl.com/6hgd8k #
  • @charliepark IE puts the "Aaaiieeee" back in "die." #

  • Ripping a Shel Silverstein CD from the library. #
  • Bet you didn't know this: You like Johnny Cash, right? Of course. Well, Shel Silverstein wrote "A Boy Named Sue" and "25 Minutes to Go." #
  • On to Dr. Suess. Have to return these discs tomorrow. #
  • Up way too late. Busy not getting ready for this weekend's camping trip to Floyd. #
  • Oracle… Java… mumble mumble. No coffee yet. DNUI: Developing Not Under The Influence. Friends don't let friends. #

  • And the winner is… #
  • 53/47 for Clinton, 13% reporting. If it stays this close it will be fantastic. #
  • I guess this ain't over yet. It's like the Punxsutawney Phil of primaries. #
  • My agency just installed a draconian new firewall. Can't connect to my home box anymore. #
  • Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. They switched the firewall/filter back to the old one. Here I am again! #
  • @peeppeep I confess I Googled it first. But I suppose I get thoroughness points. #
  • I should now have time to set up some filter-bypassing juju before they turn the beast back on again. #
  • They blocked outgoing SSH; that's just evil. #
  • But they can't block all the ports :) #
  • The new system is a Blue Coat web filter, plus some unknown firewall beyond that. #
  • This guy doesn't look like his applications are faster. More like he found the old meat at the back of the fridge. http://www.bluecoat.com/ #

  • Note to self: invent time machine, go back in time, and tell past me not to start home improvement projects after 8pm. #
  • Especially not plumbing ones. #
  • Wait for it…. #
  • Damn, didn't work. #
  • @peeppeep I already fixed everything I could. All of your problems now are the consequences of me fixing all the problems you used to have. #
  • Okay, we get it. It's raining. It's just not funny anymore! #
  • Yesterday I got tweets from Richmond folks but not the people in California. I wonder if it was a regional issue, maybe data replication? #
  • Enjoying my thumb-drive-o'-random-music-plus-foobar2000. #
  • And it's primary day! Finally! The last one was so long ago that I'm pretty sure I was too young to understand what was happening. #
  • My music just segued from live Primus to John Coltrane, so smoothly that I couldn't tell where the transition was. #
  • @kamenlee Oh yeah! #
  • Hm, a downside of the shuffled thumb drive. Want to listen to more Primus' "John the Fisherman" now, but don't have it. I suppose I'll live. #
  • Boy, Immortal Technique is one angry dude. #
  • A firm grip on government spend: http://tinyurl.com/62d8w3 I did a spit take on this one :) #
  • Taking my employer's worthless annual information security certification test. #
  • Security Rule #1: Don't write a web application so bad that it makes even honest people want to pwn it out of spite. #
  • Done. At least the answers were so obvious that I didn't need to bother reading the course material. #
  • True or false: To prevent spam, reply to the unwanted email and ask to be removed from the mailing list. #
  • You know who else is angry? Maynard James Keenan. #
  • Immortal Technique, Maynard James Keenan, and Zack de la Rocha should get together and just set everything on fire with pure anger. #
  • Henry Rollins could watch and provide guidance. Like a sort of general contractor of anger. #
  • Examining my next project: parsing a tilde-delimited text file with different types of records on each line! You can't make this stuff up. #
  • Can't comprehend the mindset of inventing something to fix a problem that has been solved a million times already by smarter people. #
  • The garden appears to have appreciated the interminable rain and subsequent warm afternoon. #
  • Mastered yesterday, on the radio today, download tonight. I love Nine Inch Nails. http://www.nin.com/ #
  • @vmarinelli Just read; so sorry. Can't imagine. Will be pulling for you. #
  • CNN: 2/3 of PA voters say Clinton has attacked Obama unfairly. 49% the other way around. http://tinyurl.com/4plajy #

  • Trying to unb0rk my Battlefield 1942 installation. #
  • Crap, it's going to need to be a full reinstall. Damn. #
  • Watching a progress bar. As far as entertainment, it's of very low value. Very low. Like, frog level. #
  • 52%. #
  • Our phone service is completely out. No dial tone whatsoever. #
  • Maybe even the cell service, can't get through on that either. #
  • Buy this car to drive to work, drive to work to pay for this car. Buy this car to drive to work, drive to work to pay for this car. #
  • page-break-inside: avoid !important; #
  • How many cathode ray tubes from discarded TVs would it take to make a really powerful death ray? #
  • @kamenlee Thanks! That's not very many; well within the capabilities of your average mind-controlled monkey soldier. On to phase III! #
  • @peeppeep Thanks for following! #
  • @peeppeep says I am "cool Richmonders." Hell yeah. #
  • @peeppeep you've obviously seen my secret closet full of self-affirming attire. Such as my "I'm totally rad" beanie cap from 1986. #
  • My car has been vibrating like a bobble-head doll in a paint mixer. One of the cylinders isn't firing. #
  • I even know which one - no. 4. It's got new plugs and it's not the coil, so it must be the wiring or the fuel injector. #
  • @charliepark Yeah, I think so too, unless the injector's completely clogged or stuck. I want to pull the plug out to see if it sparks. #

  • Gardening in the pouring rain. #
  • Up up up with a fish! #
  • @psingletary Thx for following! #
  • After concerted effort, now under 300 RSS articles left unread. Mostly Pitchfork reviews. #
  • Hm, anyone know a good way to get an RSS feed of all concerts in Richmond (and maybe Tidewater/NoVA/Cville)? #
  • Ah, found a good one at Last.fm, which is even better since they know what I like. #
  • Hey, The National is coming to The National in June. I love that band, and the same-name thing is just awesome. I should go! #
  • Mia, wearing a chef hat and sliding on the floor: 'I'm a snake chef!!' #
  • Oh, so The National is why there are always giant buses clogging my commute route at 7th and Broad. I think they owe me free tickets. #
  • Twitter is quiet today. #
  • @codearachnid thanks for following! #
  • Man, just when you think it can't rain anymore, it opens up again. Crazy. #
  • To my wife: okay, it's been fun having the kids today while you've been out. Honest! Come home now. #
  • Okay, seriously, come home. #
  • Yay, she's home! #
  • Making oatmeal raisin cookies. My favorite, in case you're wondering. Second favorite: chocolate chip. Third favorite: HTTP. #
  • @charliepark my guess is that frog level must be barely above sea level. #
  • @charliepark either that, or it's a tool that can be found in the workshop of a typical practitioner of amphibian husbandry. #
  • @charliepark from now on, i will be using the phrase "frog level" at least once a week. #
  • @vmarinelli I find there's a distinct lack of a "sir" equivalent for women. Yet another reason why BSG is better than reality. #
  • My brain cannot deal with extended exposure to a three-year-old. #
